AfterGlow began with a single moment of grief. Our founder, Andy, lost his mother in April 2026. In the weeks that followed — going through his mother's belongings — he found a half-written letter addressed to him, never finished, never sent. It was a letter about pride. About watching him grow. About a mother's love that had never quite found the words in life.
That unfinished letter became the seed of an obsession: what if we could give people the time and the tools to finish what they meant to say? Not in a hurry, not in a hospital room — but calmly, intentionally, while life was still full and present.
AfterGlow was built to answer that question.
We believe that a person's love is not limited by their presence. That the words a parent writes for a child's future wedding, the voice message a grandparent records for a grandchild not yet born, the photo collection a parent curates for a child's future wedding — these things carry something irreplaceable. Something that reshapes a life.

Your privacy is not a formality to us — it is central to what AfterGlow does. The messages and objects entrusted to us are among the most personal things a person can share. This policy explains clearly what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
Account information: Your name, email address, phone number, and billing details when you create an account or place an order.
Message content: Letters, voice recordings, videos, photographs, and any written instructions you provide for delivery. This content is encrypted immediately upon receipt and is never read, viewed, or listened to by AfterGlow staff unless you explicitly request assistance.
Recipient information: The name, address, email, and phone number of the person you designate to receive your message. This is stored securely and used solely for the purpose of delivery.
Usage data: Standard web analytics — pages visited, time on site, device type. We use this to improve our service. We do not sell this data.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except where strictly required to fulfil delivery (e.g. courier partners, who operate under their own privacy obligations).
Your content is retained for as long as necessary to fulfil your delivery, plus a legal hold period of 2 years afterward. After that period, all encrypted content is permanently and irreversibly deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time, subject to any outstanding delivery commitments.
Under applicable Indian data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, write to support@afterglow.org.in. We will respond within 30 days.
We use only essential cookies — those required for the website to function and for your session to be maintained. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

These terms govern your use of AfterGlow's services. We have written them in plain language because we believe you deserve to understand what you are agreeing to.
AfterGlow provides scheduled delivery of messages, physical items, and digital content to recipients designated by you (the "Sender"). Delivery occurs at the date and conditions specified at the time of order. We are a delivery and custody service — we do not provide legal, financial, or estate planning advice.
When you place an order, you confirm that: (a) you are the rightful owner of any physical item submitted; (b) the content of your message does not violate any applicable law; (c) you have the right to share the recipient's personal information with us for the purpose of delivery; and (d) payment has been made in full at the time of order.
All pricing is calculated at the time of order and paid upfront. The quoted price covers storage for the specified duration plus final delivery. Prices are not subject to change after payment is confirmed. Payment is accepted via major Indian payment methods including UPI, net banking, and credit/debit cards.
Modifications: You may modify recipient contact details or the scheduled delivery date up to 30 days before the delivery date, subject to any cost difference. Changes to message content are permitted up to 60 days before delivery.
Cancellations: Cancellations made more than 90 days before the scheduled delivery date qualify for a full refund less a 5% processing fee. Cancellations within 90 days are not eligible for a refund of storage costs already incurred, but delivery fees will be refunded.
We guarantee delivery or a full refund. If we are unable to complete a delivery after three attempts, we will hold your item for 5 years and attempt to locate the recipient through secondary contact details. If delivery remains impossible after this period, you or your estate will be notified and offered a refund.
You may not submit content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, or harmful. AfterGlow reserves the right to refuse or withhold delivery of any item we reasonably determine to be in violation of applicable law, without obligation to refund.
AfterGlow's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the affected order. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or emotional damages. We are not responsible for delays caused by force majeure, natural disaster, or failure of third-party couriers beyond our reasonable control.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra.

How we protect what you entrust to us
Every message stored with AfterGlow carries weight that cannot be replaced. We take security — both digital and physical — with complete seriousness. This page describes the measures we have put in place to protect your content, your identity, and your recipient's information.
AfterGlow holds all delivery funds in a ring-fenced escrow account managed by an independent trustee. In the event that AfterGlow ceases operations for any reason, the trustee is authorised and obligated to transfer all assets, items, and delivery instructions to a designated successor service. Your delivery will happen.

This guide is for two kinds of people: those who are planning messages to be delivered after their passing, and those who are acting on behalf of someone who has already passed and left instructions with AfterGlow.
When placing an order, you may select "Deliver when I'm gone" as your delivery trigger. This places your message in a special category — it will not be delivered on a fixed date, but upon confirmed notification of your passing.
You must designate at least one Trusted Notifier — a person authorised to contact AfterGlow and initiate the delivery process. This is typically a spouse, adult child, close friend, or your legal executor. Your notifier does not need to know the contents of your messages.
We recommend telling your notifier: (a) that you have messages stored with AfterGlow; (b) how to contact us at support@afterglow.org.in; and (c) where to find any reference or order numbers associated with your account.
You may set different messages for different conditions. For example:

AfterGlow is a digital-first service. All four message types currently offered — video messages, voice messages, written letters, and photo messages — are delivered digitally to the recipient's email address or via a secure private link. There is no physical shipping involved in the standard service.
This page explains exactly how digital delivery works, what to expect, and the applicable timelines.
At 8:00 AM IST on the scheduled delivery date, our system automatically checks for all messages due that day. Your message is retrieved from encrypted storage, decrypted, and a secure, one-time private link is generated. The recipient receives an email at the address you provided, containing:
The private link is valid for 30 days from the delivery date and can be accessed multiple times within that window. After 30 days, the link expires but the content remains accessible through the recipient's AfterGlow account.
Delivered as a private, password-free streaming link. The recipient can watch or listen directly in their browser — no app download required. They may also download a copy for permanent keeping.
Delivered as a beautifully formatted PDF, rendered in the AfterGlow house style with your name and the occasion noted on the cover. The recipient receives this as an attachment and as a viewable link.
Delivered as a private encrypted gallery — a curated, paginated viewing experience. Each photo can be individually downloaded. The gallery remains accessible through the recipient's AfterGlow account indefinitely.
Pan-India (all states and union territories): Digital delivery is instantaneous. There is no geographic restriction within India. Messages are delivered to any Indian email address at no additional charge.
International delivery: Digital delivery works to any email address worldwide. An additional fee of ₹199 applies for international recipients to cover cross-border infrastructure and compliance costs. There is no delay — international delivery is also instantaneous on the scheduled date.
Posthumous delivery: Once AfterGlow receives and verifies the required documentation (death certificate and notifier confirmation), digital delivery is completed within 7–14 business days.

AfterGlow does not currently offer physical item shipping — no letters by post, no couriered gifts or keepsakes. All current services are digital. If physical delivery is introduced in future, this policy will be updated and customers notified in advance.
